The Association of Automotive Makers (ADEFA) shared today the export production and wholesale numbers corresponding to the first month of this 2020 which had 14 working days of activity due to the holiday recess and the implementation of improvements in the processes in industrial plants.

In the first month of the year, 20,683 passenger vehicles and light utility vehicles were produced, meaning 42.4% more than the volume recorded last December and 39.7% more than the 14,803 units produced in the same month of 2019.

The volume of vehicles exported during January was 8,691 units, reflecting a 54.2% drop compared to December. If the comparison is with the same month of 2019, the industry recorded an improvement in shipments of 17.4 per cent.

Continuing with the data recorded in January, the sector marketed 25,727 units to its dealer network, 17.4% less than December and 14.4% less in relation to January 2019.

"Given the usual seasonality of the first months of the year, marked strongly by scheduled technical stops and recesses of the plants, we understand that it is early to make projections until closed the first quarter", explained Gabriel López, president of the Association of Automotive Makers (ADEFA), who anticipated that they will continue to address and work alongside the new national and provincial authorities on a joint agenda which articulates the public and private sector to reverse the negative indexes of this industry.

In this regard, López emphasized the commitment of the entity to work on this search for mechanisms that effectively contribute to the "continuous improvement of competitiveness".
